What is the adoption process?
When you see a cat/kitten that you are interested in adopting the first step is to complete an application either online or at one of our participating adoption partners. It usually takes 24 - 48 hours for the application to be processed, so please don't expect to take your cat/kitten home that day. After we have reviewed your application we will call you to discuss the application. We may ask that we visit your premises to make sure the environment is safe for our cat/kitten. eg. you live on the 12th floor of an apartment building and have a balcony. Once everything is approved we will call you with the good news about the addition of your family member.
In the majority of cases, LCL has invested hours and hours of time and energy into the cats/kittens we are adopting out. Most come from the streets and animal care facilities and are classed as un-adoptable when we get them. We teach them to trust, to play and to become good companion pets. Therefore, outweighing all of the time and money that is invested is the emotional investment our foster moms and dads who become very close to their wards and want to see them go on to thrive in their new home.
Matching the right cat/kitten to the home environment is essential to creating a long term bond. We know our cats/kittens and need to know about your environment and your views to make the best match possible. We are not trying to pry, we are merely ascertaining whether your situation would be good fit for the animal you are applying for. We are not here to judge you, just to make sure we have done our best for the animal we have in care.

What does my adoption fee include?
All of our cats are veterinary examined. Included in the adoption fee are the following vet services:
Spay or Neuter
Vaccines: FRCP and Rabies (the number of vaccines given is dependent on what age you adopt from us. Most of our kittens have a full course of vaccines by the time they are 16 weeks. If you adopt prior to that age there is an instance where you will need to further their vaccine regime. In some cases if the cats are very close to their vaccine date LCL will cover the cost.
Deworm: All of our cats are dewormed with either Pyran, Revolution or Advantage Multi or a combination of both.
Microchip: Your new cat/kitten will come with a microchip
What is the Rescue's expectation of a home?
We expect applicants to think seriously about the term of commitment to the animal(s) they are adopting. In most cases a healthy cat/kitten can live to be 18 - 22 ask yourself if you can offer that time commitment. For example we hear about many cats needing rescue because their senior owner, due to death or having to move into assisted living accommodations, can no longer offer a home.
We expect our homes to be patient and understand that it can take several weeks for a new cat/kitten to become acclimated to their new environment, especially if there is already another animal present in the home.
We expect our homes to love their new cat/kitten and provide him/her with attention and positive, force free behaviour modification if needed. With any animal you get back what you give...give responsibly and you will have a beautiful
companion for life.
